About the Recipe

This recipe is a family favorite and has been feature many times at local fundraising events. We love to serve this as a side with a big plate of spaghetti and a fresh salad. It reheats well in the oven if you have leftovers, or you could try it Mike's favorite way: in the morning spread with grape jelly!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Butter, salted

  • 1 Head of garlic - minced

  • 1/3 cup Olive Oil

  • 1 1/2 tsp dried Oregano*

  • 1- tsp dried Basil*

  • 1 tsp dried Parsley*

  • 1/4 tsp Crushed Red Pepper*

  • *(or use 2 -3 tsp  of our Everything Seasoning)

  • 1 loaf French Bread

Preparation

Step 1

Combine butter, olive oil, and garlic in a saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat, but make sure not to boil it.

Step 2

Preheat your oven to 350° F. Add the herbs and spices to the butter and oil mixture and continue to simmer it for 10-15 minutes, until the garlic softens. Stir frequently.

Step 3

Slice the loaf of French bread lenthwise and put onto an oven safe tray. Score the faces of bread with a knife at a 45 degree angle. Ladle the simmered butter mixture onto the faces of the bread, making sure to spread it evenly.

Step 4

Bake in your preheated oven for 5-10 minutes, or until the garlic bread has reached your desired level of crsipiness. Remove from the oven and slice into 2 inch wide slices. Serve warm.
