About the Recipe

This recipe is one of our most popular. We've shared it many times with friends and family members who have raved about how delicious it was.

When our son-in-law, who is from England, came to visit us for the first time ever, we hosted a big barbecue with family members that were excited to meet him. We made sure to make some of our favorite American and barbecue foods, including our party beans. He loved them! He ate 4 helpings and was tempted to go for a 5th! He also loved them with our homemade cornbread and barbecue sausages.

Ingredients

  • 2 15oz cans Black Beans

  • 2 15oz cans Pinto Beans

  • 2 15oz cans Great Northern Beans

  • 2 15oz cans Kidney Beans

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef

  • 2 lbs Onions, chopped

  • 2 bottles Messy Stuff OR Dragon's Kiss barbecue sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1

In large pot, heat a drizzle of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and brown, about 8-10 minutes. Add the onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Drain all cans of beans, reserving the liquid.

Step 3

Add the beans and barbecue sauce to the pot with the meat mixture. Top up the liquid in the pot with the reserved bean juice until the beans are just covered. Discard any unused bean juice.

Step 4

Heat the pot over a low heat until heated thoroughly. Serve warm.
